PREAMBLE
The analytical services unit was originally carved out of the Basic Research Department. It was then called the
instrumentation unit under the industrial chemical department.
The sole aim of this unit is to aid researchers within the institute to efficiently and effectively accomplish their
research work through the characterization of research product/findings.
Below is the list of almost all the analytical equipment/instrument domicile in different department.
The model, function, challenges and resolutions are summarized in the table. Needless to mention the
limitless prospects of what we have and underutilizing.

The good vision of the management to make NARICT a center of excellence in terms of holistic research in various
perspective and field of sciences, prompted the purchase of arrays of high precision analytical equipment and
therefore decentralizing the equipment to different department in accordance to research groups and department
where they will be put to better use.
The challenge of maintaining these equipment owing to paucity of fund brought about the commercialization of the
services of the equipment. Researchers within and outside NARICT can pay and benefit from this equipment.
In addition, the analytical service unit has been a bedrock in area of internally generated revenue source
of the institute.
Costing per sample for every analysis was set minimally in order to encourage research. However, based on analytical
research and commercialization, NARICT has set a standard but, others are catching up. Hence the need to do the needful
by putting all our state of the art analytical equipment in order as many are currently not in good condition and
also embark on serious marketing if we really want to commercialize to increase the IGR source and save adequately
for proper equipment maintenance.
