Construction of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) Pilot Plant for co¬production of:
(a) 3.57 Tonnes/day PCC for application in Pharmaceutical and Allied
Industries;
(b) 2.88 Tonnes/day Sodium Hydroxide for soap. detergent, pulp and paper
industries.
NARICT collaborated with Raw Materials Research Development Council tc design a pilot plant for the production of
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is the most widely used filler material in paper.
paint, plastic, food, ceramic, cosmetic. medicine, a source of calcium in animal feeds, acidity regulator in some
agricultural and pharmaceutical products. sealant, adhesive, textile (carpet). and several other industries. Each
industry requires specific product characteristics in terms of chemical purity, particle size distribution,
shape and surface area. whiteness, and rheological behaviour etc. PCC has advantage over standard Ground Calcium
Carbonates (GCC), due to the possibility of having different crystalline forms which yield to predetermined physical
properties and fits into the various applications.
