On Monday, 23rd June 2025, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu, led his management team on a courtesy visit to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) in Kaduna. The visit aimed to foster institutional collaboration in research, innovation, and industrial development.
The NARICT delegation was warmly received by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, who emphasized the importance of applied research in addressing Nigeria’s developmental challenges. He commended NARICT’s scientific efforts and encouraged a transition from laboratory-based research to full-scale industrial production, noting that such a move would reduce the country’s dependence on imported chemicals and related products.
Drawing from his tenure as a former Director-General of NARICT, Prof. Bugaje shared valuable insights and highlighted successful international partnership in research commercialization and entrepreneurial capacity building. He expressed strong interest in renewed collaboration between NBTE and NARICT and proposed the formation of a joint technical committee to identify and implement areas of mutual benefit.
In his response, Engr. Dr. Mu’azu expressed appreciation for Prof. Bugaje’s mentorship during
his postgraduate studies and welcomed the initiative.
He outlined his vision for strengthening NARICT’s mandate, with a focus on reverse engineering and applied industrial
solutions. He reaffirmed NARICT’s readiness to work closely with NBTE in delivering tangible outcomes for national
development.
